Saurav vs. Shane @ I.P.L.

Nice Duel !! No ??

Regardless of who won, THIS is not the way it
was expected to happen.
One is reminded of the story of fight between
two cats over a piece of bread and the monkey
[B.C.C.I] who resolved the dispute by taking
[the 10%] bites from the bread !!

If you have not heard the story, you are sure
to find it in MY BLOGOSPHERE.

What's Happening to CRICKET ? (in Sydney)

With the umpires hell bent upon AWARDING the current test-match
at Sydney to the home team, is there any point in playing on ?

Honestly, the Indian captain should have considered conceding
the match just as soon as Saurav Ganguly was given out after(!)
consultation with the fielder - Mr. Gavaskar is rightly fuming
from his position as a commentator, but does that help ?

And pray, with the ICC now headquartered in Dubai, why should the
spectators not demand an immediate and "impartial" enquiry into
the BETTING ANGLE with a focus on the betting syndicate-umpires'
nexus or even the involvement of a few C-A and ICC officials with
the betting mafia ?

Certainly, there must be a whole lot of Betting Moolah that would
be currently riding on "Australia creating a New Record for Most
Consecutive Test Victories".

Why, oh! why must only the Asians and Africans be always forced to
come under the scanner ?
Racial overtones ? Sorry! I forgot momentarily that such accusations
also are the sole prerogative of the likes of Ponting, Symonds and
Clarkes.

Please forgive me for my outburst - after all, it is ONLY a Game !!

Home Come The Heroes !!

The multitude that thronged the streets of Mumbai to
welcome M S Dhoni & his brigade was UNBELIEVABLE,
to put it mildly.
Yograj, Harbhajan and everybody was in a joyous mood &
the urge to dance away was clearly discernible.

BUT, has anyone cared to keep in view the ensuing series
against Australia which begins shortly ?
Certainly, the heroes needed to be shielded from the rain
which can cause a few alarms by way of fever , aching joints
and such maladies. After all, the lads are human - and the
long flight does take it's toll on the human body !!

Shocking Turn to the Decider

Shocking ? Disgusting ? Suspicious ? Unforgivable ?
What exactly were your feelings when Aleem Dar raised
his finger on 8/9/2007 at the Lord’s - England ) first for
Rahul Dravid and then for Sachin Tendulkar in almost next
to no time ?
Was Andrew Flintoff, as a bowler, the beneficiary of an
honest human error or was England XI being guided towards
victory at the behest of abetting syndicate / cartel ?
Azaharuddin and Hansie Cronje were deemed guilty of having
brought the game into disrepute and banned. Does the game’s
reputation get enhanced by "false appeals" and such "blatantly
wrong decisions" ? Or will the Wisden records show "given out
wrongly" against the following :-
Rahul Dravid c Prior b. Flintoff 0 ( & other such entries)
Was Tendulkar any less deserving of a recall than Pietersen
earlier during the same tour ?
Or, have the umpires been given a brief by the I.C.C. about
entertaining such requests, indeed commands, from the home
team only ?
And then, we also have the totally blatant discriminatory
interpretations of various related laws. While Indian cricketers
get docked a percentage for any minor transgression,
a Collingwood can openly challange an umpire on the field -
everyone but the blind saw it !!
Perhaps, ICL is a good thing after all !!
If we can have three different entities sharing the World Boxing
revenues and Lawn Tennis supports its different "circuits" so well,
why should not Cricket expand its horizons to challange the
monopoly being exercised byI.C.C. and B.C.C.I. ?
After all, it will definitely be beneficial to the players, the spectators
and, above all, to the game of Cricket itself !!
